OFFICIAL: Issa Ssempijja Appointed Uganda Martyrs Head Coach – The Hoima Post –

Uganda Martyrs Lubaga Women Football Club have officially appointed Issa Ssempijja as their new head coach and will be deputized by Emmy Kisakye.

As this website reported on 3rd of December, 2023, the club has confirmed the news on Tuesday afternoon in a press release that they have appointed Issa Ssempijja as the head coach and Emmy Kisakye as the assistant coach.

Joining Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC, Ssempijja was the head coach of Shuuku Vocational SS, a school he led to the round of 16 in this year’s National Championships.

His assistant Emmanuel Emmy Kisakye, is also a coach of Kampala Junior team (KJT) in the Futsal Super League.

The duo will take over from Rogers Nkugwa and Rajab Buyinza, who resigned as head coach and assistant respectively in November after just five league games in charge this season.

Ssempijja is a CAF C tactician with over 15 years of experience in women’s football. He has previously coached NTC Kabale, Western Utd WFC, and Maryhill High School. He also guided Western Utd WFC to the quarter finals of the FUFA Women’s Cup in 2017.

He’s also a former referee and referee’s assessor. He is an Excom Member Uganda Women Football Association, a SIG Women Regional Delegate and Football Development Officer for the Western Region.

Their immediate task will be a home league game against UCU Lady Cardinals this Saturday in Lubaga.

Heading into the Christian derby, Uganda Martyrs are third on the table with 7 points from five games which they played under former coach Rogers Nkugwa.
