The Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt Hon Nabbanja Robinah, officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the tarmacking of the 103.08 km Koboko-Yumbe-Moyo road project on Friday. The event took place at Sesse Playground in Yumbe Town Council.

The Premier urged the contractor to adhere to the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental protection.

The Government of Uganda has secured a USD 130.8 million grant from the World Bank to upgrade the road.

“This road will boost regional trade between Uganda, the DRC, and South Sudan,” emphasized Prime Minister Nabbanja.

The Works State Minister, Musa Ecweru, highlighted the significance of the project, noting that once completed, it will enhance transport infrastructure within northern Uganda’s refugee resettlement program.

The ceremony was attended by several State Ministers, including Obiga Kania for Urban Development, Dr. Kenneth Omona for Northern Uganda, Joyce Moriku Kaduchu for Education, and Huda Aberson Oleru for Veteran Affairs. A cross-section of MPs, local leaders, and technical officers also graced the event.
